Christmas/New Year's Season Safety Campaign
Galesburg, IL - The Knox County Sheriff's Office released the results of additional
enforcement efforts conducted via the Federal Fiscal Year 2025 Sustained Traffic
Enforcement Program (STEP). The Christmas/New Year's STEP grant campaign ran from
December 13th, 2024 to January 2nd, 2025.
Deputies issued 56 citations. Activity included:

15 Occupant Restraint citations
7 Speeding citations
5 Distracted Driving
25 Other citations

1 Arrest for Driving Under the Influence (DUI)
3 Other Arrests

The Knox County Sheriff's Office participated in this effort to save lives by
focusing on the leading contributory causes of crashes: speeding, impaired
driving, electronic device use, failure to yield and disobeying traffic control
signals, as well as occupant restraint violations.
The STEP campaign was funded by federal highway safety funds administered by
the Illinois Department of Transportation and is part of the statewide "Drive
Sober or Get Pulled Over" and "Click It or Ticket" campaigns.
