Thanksgiving Season Safety Campaign
Galesburg, IL - The Knox County Sheriff's Office released the results of additional
enforcement efforts conducted via the Federal Fiscal Year 2025 Sustained Traffic
Enforcement Program (STEP). The Thanksgiving STEP grant campaign ran from
November 15 th , through November 26 th , 2024.
Deputies issued 42 citations. Activity included:
14 Occupant Restraint citations
10 Speeding citations
1 Distracted Driving
17 Other citations
2 Arrests for Driving Under the Influence (DUI)
1 Arrest for Driving While License Suspended
The Knox County Sheriff's Office participated in this effort to save lives by
focusing on the leading contributory causes of crashes: speeding, impaired
driving, electronic device use, failure to yield and disobeying traffic control
signals, as well as occupant restraint violations.
The STEP campaign was funded by federal highway safety funds administered by
the Illinois Department of Transportation and is part of the statewide "Drive
Sober or Get Pulled Over" and "Click It or Ticket" campaigns.
