On Friday February 24, 2023 at 8:13 AM Deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 500 block of N. Swartz St. in Abingdon Il.  The driver gave the deputy a false identification and then drove away from the stop.   The vehicle drove through a yard before coming to a stop and the driver fled from the vehicle on foot.  All other occupants remained in the vehicle.

Deputies searched the area and were told the subject may be in possession of a weapon.  Due to the subject fleeing on foot, possibly being armed and the proximity to the schools, Heading Grade School and the Abingdon Highschool were placed on a lockdown for the safety of the students and faculty.

The subject later stole a minibike from the 300 block of West North St. and continued to flee from Deputies.  The subject crashed the minibike in the 400 block of Craver St.  The subject continued to flee on foot until he was apprehended in the 900 block of Fearing Ave.  

No firearm was located and no students or faculty were harmed.  As soon as the subject was in custody the lockdown was taken off both schools.

The subject was identified as Camron Boone 32 years of age of Henderson Il.

Boone was transported to the Knox County Jail and charged with the following charges:

(2) Counts Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding Criminal Trespass to Building

Reckless Driving (3) Knox County Warrants

Endangering Life or Health of Child No Valid Driver's License

Obstruct Identification Probation Violation

Burglary Possession of Stolen Vehicle

 

All persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
