The Knox County Sheriff's Office would like to notify the public of a trend of 2010-2021 Kias and 2015-2021 Hyundias thefts occurring nationwide.  In the last 24 hours, there have been 5 stolen from local jurisdictions that resulted in police pursuits.  We would like to remind the public to please keep your all your cars locked at all times when it is not in use.

After doing research on the nationwide problem we have learned that there is a security software patch that is available through Kia and Hyundia dealerships to help stop the theft of these cars.  If you own one of the mentioned vehicles, please contact a Kia and/or Hyundia dealership and see about the security software patch.
