Yates City man arrested after shooting incident

On 04/28/16 at 0130hrs, the Knox County Sheriff's Department was informed that a subject (Jason Corbett), was at St. Francis Hospital Emergency Room with a gunshot to the stomach area which appeared to be a graze wound.  Knox County Investigators responded to St. Francis and also to 302 E. Maple St, Yates City, which is the location that this incident was reported to have occurred.

Initial information from Jason Corbett was that he had been in his garage with subject(s) had shot at him, in which time he returned fire with his hand gun and thought that he may have struck one of the subjects.  Some of the statements provided by Jason Corbett appeared inconsistent with the evidence as it pertains to the shooting.

Prior to being treated by a Doctor, Jason Corbett decided he wanted to leave the hospital and refused further treatment.

A Search Warrant was issued for the residence at 302 E. Maple St and as a result of the search warrant, Jason Corbett was arrested for the following:

--Possession of Psilocybin Mushrooms
--Reckless discharge of a firearm
--Unlawful use of a weapon(2 counts) for items found on Jason Corbett and in his residence
--Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

The incident is still under investigation.
