06/20/2011

The results of DNA testing conducted by the FBI Laboratory and Minnesota Department of Public Safety have concluded that the human remains found in the East Galesburg Brick Yards in 1996 were NOT that of Lula Cora Hood as initially believed.

Knox County Investigators have re-opened the investigation and are working to identify the human remains.  At the request of the Sheriff's Department, anthropologists at the FBI Laboratory in Quantico, VA will be re-examining the remains.  A new facial reconstruction will be requested based on the FBI's findings.

DNA profiles obtained from the family of Lula Cora Hood as well as the profile obtained from the unidentified remains have been entered into the National Missing Persons DNA Database.

More information on this investigation will be released in the near future.
