Rapid Recovery of Knox County
Electronic Technology to locate missing persons
Rapid Recovery of Knox County is a non-profit, grass root organization working to provide persons in Knox County with the newest state of the art technology to provide safe return in case a person wanders away from their caregiver. This technology involves a transmitter worn on a bracelet which will enable search and rescue personnel to locate the lost person with an average of 30 minutes.
This technology is available to anyone in Knox County from very young children with Autism and Downs Syndrome and other related mental conditions to seniors diagnosed with Dementia, Alzheimer's or other related dementia who may become lost.
Search and Rescue Personnel
Local persons, including members of the Knox County Sheriff's Department, Galesburg Police Department and community members have been trained to assist in the recovery of missing persons.
Once alerted to a lost person in the program, trained search and recovery personnel respond to the scene and begin to track the lost individual utilizing state of the art electronic tracking devices which pick up the radio signal of the wrist transmitter worn by the lost person.
Numerous recoveries nationwide have proven this system effective and Rapid Recovery has been heralded as a real life saver in these situations.
Founded in 2005 and becoming operational in 2006, Knox County uses Rapid Recovery to help protect youth and elderly in our communities afflicted with wandering disorders.
Program Cost:
Rapid Recovery will own the transmitters. The person/family will be able to rent the transmitters for $30 per month. The rental fee will pay for a monthly maintainance and new battery to ensure the proper functioning of the transmitter. A trained person will be performing the monthly maintainance.
A local commitee is developing a financial program to assist with the monthly fees for the persons/families unable to pay the fee.
This program is operated solely with volunteers and funded purely through generous donations. If you would be interested in donating time or monies to this worth while program, please contact us.
