Shop With A Cop 2010

Shop With A Cop 2010

On Saturday, December 11th, 2010, the Knox County Sheriff's Department Police Benevolent and Protection Association Unit #101 (PB&PA) hosted its 15th annual Shop with a Cop event at Wal-Mart in Galesburg.
Every year, the Knox County Sheriff's Department PB&PA Unit #101 invites deserving 4th and 5th grade aged children from Knox County area schools to spend the morning shopping with an officer from the Knox County Sheriff's Department. Each child is given $100 to spend as they wish. Some children spend the money on themselves, while others choose to buy gifts for their parents, siblings and other friends and family members. The children were also given a chance to have their picture taken with Santa and Mrs. Claus as well as enjoy a snack provided by Subway.

This year PB&PA Unit #101 invited over 60 children to "Shop with a Cop". Public donations are used to fund the annual "Shop with a Cop" program.

The Knox County Sheriff's Department PB&PA Unit #101 would like to extend a special thanks to Linda Howater from the Galesburg Wal-Mart for her help in coordinating the event and the Carl Sandburg College A.D.N. nursing students for their volunteering with the children.
